About Us

MUST Cherokee was born in May of 1988 as a food pantry in the basement of Canton United Methodist Church, which at that time was located in downtown Canton. Bill Brewer from Hickory Flat UMC was the first director. A local home - "The MUST Hut" - was soon purchased with funds raised by volunteers and the sale of Pizza Hut donated food to house the community's homeless; one family at a time.

Around 1991 MUST Cherokee moved into a store front of the Ford Building, again in downtown Canton, with Sandra Bennett as the program director. The sign in the front window advertised the ministry's name as "Cherokee MUST Center" - a name that many of our clients still use today.

1998 saw MUST Cherokee move to its present location at 141-B W. Marietta Street in Canton where we currently serve those in need in our community with our food pantry, clothing closet, financial assistance, translation assistance, housing and seasonal programming.

From the North, take 575 South to exit 16B. Right onto 140 Hwy also called Hickory Flat Highway . Hwy140/Hickory Flat Hwy dead ends into Marietta Road at traffic light. Right onto Marietta Road , and continue over the railroad tracks. MUST Cherokee is the next building on the left.

From the South, take 575 North to exit 16 stay in the most right/forward lane and proceed to the bottom of the hill. Left onto 140 Hwy/Hickory Flat Hwy. 140 Hwy/Hickory Flat Hwy dead ends into Marietta Road at traffic light.
